November 2020 Special Election
SALES AND USE TAX
Since 2004, the City of Selma has collected one-fourth (1/4) of one percent sales and use tax that is dedicated to road repairs. For the City of Selma, State law requires that this one-quarter of one percent sales and use tax be reauthorized by a special election every four years. There will be a Special Election on November 3, 2020 on the following proposition:
PROPOSITION
THE REAUTHORIZATION OF THE LOCAL SALES AND USE TAX IN THE CITY OF SELMA, TEXAS AT THE RATE OF ONE-FOURTH OF ONE PERCENT TO CONTINUE PROVIDING REVENUE FOR MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR OF MUNICIPAL STREETS. THE TAX EXPIRES ON THE FOURTH ANNIVERSARY OF THE DATE OF THE ELECTION UNLESS THE IMPOSITION OF THE TAX IS REAUTHORIZED.

EL IMPUESTO EXPIRA EN EL CUARTO ANIVERSARIO DE LA FECHA DE LA ELECCION A MENOS QUE SE REAUTORICE LA IMPOSICION DEL IMPUESTO.
SELMA STREET MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR
Each year, the street maintenance and repair taxes are used to provide for general road repairs throughout the City of Selma. Most recently, the street maintenance and repair taxes were used to help fund the Ventura Boulevard and Arcadia Dr. reconstruction project, as well as road improvements in Forest Creek, Olympia Hills, Retama Springs, and Kensington Ranch Subdivisions. This sales and use tax is anticipated to help fund future repairs/improvements to Evans Road.
