Water Permit Applications

Permit Applications can be obtained at the Selma Municipal Complex, 9375 Corporate Drive, Selma Texas, 78154. Please provide license and have the insurance agency fax a Certificate of General Liability insurance naming the City of Selma, at the address previously named, as the certificate holder. Permit fees are calculated at $45 for the first $1000 of valuation plus $1.50 for each additional $100 or fraction thereof.

Irrigation Information

Minimum Requirements according to section 305 (Trenching, Excavation, and Backfill) of 2000 international plumbing code.

Trench minimum 12 inches
All pipe bedded in a minimum of 2” of clean material such as sand
Minimum 3” cover
All pipe crossing under concrete/driveways/sidewalks will be sleeved (twice the diameter of pipe being installed)
Install a rain sensor
Backflow Prevention installed according to code

Inspection before backfilling

Wash rock under back flow prevention
Test report for BF prevention

Water Softeners

Check value required for protection against backflow as per 608.1
Minimum of Schedule 40 PVC
Trench depth 12”
All pipe bedded in a minimum of 2” of clean material such as sand
Cover pipe in a minimum of 2” sand
All pipe crossing under concrete/driveways/sidewalks will be sleeved (twice the diameter of pipe being installed)

Inspection before backfilling

Copper pipe above ground and insulated
Pipe through wall will be sleeved
